MASA JEFE DE JEFE BURRITO EATING CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.  Day of event registration is to be 45 minutes prior to the posted event starting time stated on the competitor application.  If a competitor is late for any reason they are disqualified.  The competitor must wear given identification the entire event and stay in the competitor area from the time of registration until the event champion is announced.  If at anytime a competitor leaves the competitor area they are disqualified.

 2.  The competition is for 10 minutes.  The winner will be the first to finish the entire burrito or the competitor that finishes the most as it is determined at the end of the 10 minutes by the appointed judges.  Penalties may be applied at the sole discretion of the judges and deducted from the final scores.

 3.  No "chipmunking".  Chipmunking is the competitor’s attempt to put as much food in their mouth as possible during the final seconds of the contest.  If food is left in the mouth at the end of the competition the competitors will have 15 seconds to swallow the remaining burrito and may be asked to reverse the amount after the 15 seconds onto their eating vessel before final weighing and penalties may be imposed at the sole discretion of the judges.

 4.  No "dunking".  Dunking is the ability to dunk foods in water or other liquids to soften the food and make it easier to swallow.  The provided water may be used only to drink during the 10 minutes and not for any other reason.  A competitor may be disqualified at the sole discretion of the judges if the water is used for any reason then drinking.

 5.  A 16.9 ounce bottle of water will be supplied to each contestant.  This water is to be used for the sole purpose of drinking and will follow the same rules that apply to the burrito.  Vomiting, regurgitation and reversal of any water may disqualify any competitors at the sole discretion of the judges.

 6.  "Debris".  Competitors are expected to maintain a relatively clean eating surface throughout the contest.  Excess debris after the contest may result in a deduction from the competitors final totals.

 7.  "Vomiting".  If at any point during or immediately after the contest, a competitor regurgitates any food, he or she will be disqualified.  Vomiting, also known as "reversal", includes obvious signs of vomiting as well as any small amounts of food that may fall from the mouth deemed by the judges to have come from the stomach.  Small amounts of food already in the mouth prior to swallowing are excluded from this rule.

 8.  Competitors must have a nice clean appearance for the event.  If anything the competitors is wearing is deemed inappropriate the competitor may be subject to disqualification.

 9.  Competitors may sit or stand but must not leave their position at the table during the competition or they may be disqualified.

 10.  Competitors must wait for the starting signal to begin eating and may not touch the burrito or eating vessel or utensils prior to the starting signal.  Competitors must stop eating and must promptly place their hands down on the table or at their side at the ending signal.

 11.  In the event of a tie, after a brief interval, 1 minute and 30 second eat-offs will take place until a winner is selected.

 12.  A competitor will be disqualified for a false or incomplete application form or liability waiver.

 13.  A competitor will be disqualified for any health risks that could jeopardize the competitor's health or well-being.  If any competitor is intoxicated or under the influence of any substance they will be disqualified.

Judges reserve the right to disqualify any competitor for any reason without explanation.  Event coordinators reserve the right to modify these rules and regulations and the final rules and regulations will be posted on the day of the event.
